Black-headed Grosbeak

The black-headed grosbeak migrates into North Dakota during the spring from central Mexico where the bird winters.  This grosbeak likes varied habitat of stream edges, tree groves or broken forest. Their diet consists of insects, nuts and berries.  Their large beaks allows them to crack open nuts.  They will visit bird feeders for sunflower seeds.
