Mt. Kilimanjaro is 19,340 feet tall and located in Tanzania.  In 2007, I took a modified Machame route, five days up and two days down, traveling south of the mountain going west to east with the following campsites: Shira I 11,843 feet (3,610 meters); Shire II 12,598 feet (3,840 meters); Barranco 13,066 feet (3,983 m); Karanga 12,959 feet (3,950 meters); Barafu (high camp before summit) 15,239 feet (4,645 m); Mweka (descent) 10,204 feet (3,110 m) and Mweka Gate (end of trek) 5,423 feet (1,653 m).  I was able to summit the Uhuru peak at 19,340 feet on November 8, 2007.

Denali is the tallest mountain in North America at 20,310 feet (6,190.5 m) and the mountain with the greatest height from base to crest (18,000 feet) in the world.

Some of the most beautiful mountains in the world are found in Patagonia: Cuerno Norte 7217 feet (2200 m), Paine Grande 10,006 ft (3,050 m), Torres Norte 8,530 ft (2,600 m), Torres Central 9,186 ft (2,800 m) and Torres Sur 9,350 ft (2,850 m) in Torres del Paine National Park in Chile and Cerro Torre 10,262 ft (3,128 m) and Mt. Fitz Roy 11,171 ft (3,405 m) in Los Glacieres National Park in Argentina.

The name "Torres del Paine" refers to the Spanish word for towers (Torres) and the indigenous Tehuelche (Aonikenk) term for the color blue (Paine).  Paine Grande is one of the most difficult mountains to climb in the world and has been summited only three times.  Torres del Paine National Park was listed by National Geographic magazine as the 5th most beautiful place in the world.  Mt. Fitz Roy was named after Robert Fitz Roy, the captain of the Beagle, the ship that took Charles Darwin on his famous voyage.

Aoraki or Mount Cook 12,218 ft (3,724 m) in New Zealand is named after Captain James Cook.  Aoraki is the Maori term for "cloud piercer."
